Each term, I give every student two hall passes. I make sure to stamp the hall pass with colored ink, or copy it onto colored paper to keep everyone honest. Then, if a student asks to use the restroom, go to their locker, get a drink of water, etc., I ask for one of their hall passes. At the end of the semester, I have students write their name on the back of unused hall passes and turn them in to the drawer, and they earn extra credit.
